101 in 1001 Completion and Recap

How have I been so remiss as to not post about my 101 in 1001 progress?!

Seriously??

You guys might remember how a loooooong time ago I created a list of 101 things I wanted to do over the next 1001 days. I found the idea over on Pink Champagne Problems (which is now The Champagne Edit by Dana) and she got the idea from Mackenzie Horan on Design Darling. I think Mackenzie is the originator and she is on her third list now.

Anyway, 1001 days ended...on September 16, 2018. Lol. So ignore the fact that it has taken me OVER A MONTH to actually post about how I did. How did I do you're wondering??

Well, not great. Haha. I completed....46 items out of 101. That is 45.54% and is pretty pitiful. It looks like Mackenzie Horan's personal best is 79 though so...I guess I shouldn't feel too bad about myself. 101 is a lot of things and 100 is a lot of time but it's crazy how the time just evaporated. If you want to see which goals I did (or didn't) complete, you can see my full list here. Also, there are some highlights and personal favorites from the list below.

#2: Complete My First Cross-Stitch Stocking. I posted this goal wayyyy back on December 29, 2015 (I think I completed it around December 20, 2015 though).
I'm proud of this accomplishment because I see the stocking hung up at my parents' house (my brother is in college and still lives at home during breaks) every year. Plus it kept me motivated to work on not one but TWO more cross-stitch stockings (for me and my husband).

I was also really excited to complete #41: Complete a race (like a Tough Mudder or something). I completed this goal on May 19, 2018. I was really proud of myself and my crew (my teammates for the race were my brother, brother-in-law--who you can see over my shoulder in the photo below, and brother-in-law's cousin, as well as pretty much everyone there that day who helped me). We were just getting into fitness at that point so this was such a great goal and accomplishment...even if we did only do the Half.
Plus, it was wayyyy out of my comfort zone (and on my Ultimate Bucket List). I'm happy to say that we have talked about doing a Tough Mudder Full, a Spartan race, or a mini triathlon next. I'll keep you updated if we actually sign up for one!

I'm also super proud that I could cross #74. Buy a Home. We spent months and months and months and months and months searching for our perfect home. I'm glad we continued our searching for our perfect home even when we wanted to give up because we finally found it this past spring. We have now been in our home for six months and we are really making it our own.  I recently decorated it for Halloween. LOL.
I love our little hay bales and the wreath we got from JoAnns. It is a black grapevine wreath with sparkly candy corn pieces scattered throughout. I'm looking for a "Trick or Treat" sign to attach in the middle but I haven't found one yet. I'm thinking I should just make one--if you know any good tutorials leave a comment or email me! Oh! We also added a storm door because the prior owners didn't have one and I thought that was super weird. I love how it somehow downplays the red front door but also makes the door's color pop.

#89. Visit a Castle. Accomplishing this item was so awesome because we visited Kensington Palace during the London days of our honeymoon in September 2017. It was even more special because we saw the Princess Diana Memorial Gardens that ended up being the background used for the photo call to announce the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex).
When the news of their engagement broke I couldn't help myself but to freak out a little that I WAS JUST THERE. Literally. Two months before. I have to wonder if Meghan Markle was visiting the Prince when we were there. That would be something. LOL. We could have hung out!

#90 Celebrate my Broski's 21st Birthday in Las Vegas, Nevada was also one of my favorites. I had been wanting to go to Vegas ever since I turned 21 (but my sister and I couldn't swing a trip back then because--well I was 21 and had no money).
My Dad ended up joining us to celebrate and it was a really fun four days in Sin City. Such a crazy town. I would totally go back!

And my personal favorite item I achieved has to #98. Visit Paris, France. I know this is not surprising anyone. I have been in love with Paris and pining to visit the City of Lights ever since my first days of French class in high school. Now I can proudly say I have been there and we saw so so so much of the city during our trip.
Now when my husband asks me where I would like to travel to next I really struggle to pick a destination. Paris was all I ever wanted and we have checked that off the list. Anywhere else we get to go is just a bonus!

I guess there's nothing left to do now but to start over with a new 101 in 1001 list. This time I'm going to be smart though and I won't be fooled by the "oh I have plenty of time" or "I have until 2018 to finish up everything, I'll be fine" sentiments that delayed some major goal-crushing last time. No. I will put a lot of thought into my goals this time around. I think some of my goals last time became unimportant to me as time went on and my priorities rearranged. I will be careful to categorize goals and really make them attainable things that I will want to do over the next 1001 days. If you want to see my new 101 in 1001 list check back in a few days! Also if you're feeling inspired and would like to start your own list we could

  1. Nikki, it was so fun to read about your 101 in 1001 progress. I am so glad you left a comment on my blog, we definitely have a lot in common. I would love to hear about your experience transitioning from law school to life as an attorney too (:

Congratulations on buying a home, that is no small feat! And visiting Paris is on every girl's wish list right? <3 Can't wait to read your next list!

    1. Oooh that's a fantastic idea! I will have to think about a post discussing the transition from law school to the real life practice of law. I'm sure there is SO MUCH that I know now that I wish I knew then. I will get working on this ASAP. In the meantime, thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment!
