Happy Hunger Games!

A friend of mine found this tutorial online and asked me to do these nails for her for when we all went to see The Hunger Games tonght. I ended up doing them on four people (including myself..like the picture!). I think they came out so well!
I used Orly Liquid Vinyl as the base. Then for the flames I used Sally Hansen Cherry red, OPI Flit A Bit, and Orly Glitz & Glamour. I think these are incredible!
Also, my "Katniss Everdeen" inspired hairdo for the event!

"May the odds be ever in your favor!"

Let's Go Flyers!

My apartment-mate Sarah and our friend Jen are huge Flyers fans. They had tickets to this past Saturday's game so I wanted to surprise Sarah with festive Flyers nails. The picture is blurry...my phone camera wasn't cooperating with me that day!
Base: OPI Flit A Bit
Black and white nail polish for the design

Passed my Spanish Oral Proficiency Interview for my minor

ACCEPTED: Widener Law

I went for a tour of Widener Law today. It wasn't what I expected. I thought the law school was on the same campus as the rest of Widener...it's nowhere near Widener University. It's all on it's own! The campus was so beautiful, all the students seemed just like me and the class I sat in on was totally fascinating. I really liked the school and I could definitely see myself going there!! *Fingers crossed that they give me a scholarship like Duquesne!*

Happy 22nd Birthday Boyfriennnd!

So far I've taken this weekend off...DOH! >< However, I have a pretty good excuse for being lazy this past weekend! It was my boyfriend Andrew's 22nd birthday weekend!!! =D I get really excited about birthdays and so, of course, I had his birthday weekend planned out. I cannot bake/cook at all...like...I shouldn't even try...but I attempted to bake! My little circular double layer pound cake with chocolate icing in the center and cream cheese frosting on the outside. I even wrote "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREW!" on it in blue gel icing (blue was obviously the color of the birthday if you notice the wrapping paper and everything). His birthday presents weren't really anything special. He's very practical so he likes to get stuff he can use....like shorts and polo shirts. I love to shop for clothes so I didn't mind spoiling him with a few of each!
A close up of my work of art and seeeee, my boyfriend loooooved it!
I was deep in concentration making this while friends and I were watching a movie. I honestly can't even tell you what the movies was named/any details about it. Next time, I'm going on Cake Boss!!

Week of Workouts recap!
Monday: 12 mile cycle + 1 mile run
Tuesday: 10 mile cycle + ab workout
Wednesday: 3 mile run + ZWOW #9
Thursday: 2 mile run + P90X Legs
Friday: 2 hours beach volleyball :D
Sat & Sun: active rest days

Beach Volleyball with My Bitches

Played 2 hours of beach volleyball today with my girlies. It was so nice to be outside and doing something fun like volleyball, especially going into this weekend where it's supposed to rain all weekend! Ugh! Anyway, 2 hours in the sun = no tan for me! I don't get it...I'm so white still!
This may have happened to one, two, or three of us...we're skilled!

3/22/12: WOD

Workout for Thursday: Run 2 miles (20:00 minutes!!) + P90X Legs :D I'll feel that tomorrow for sure!

Summer employment?

Might have to go back to working late night at the diner this summer.....Hellll nooo. I'll be finding another restaurant to work at.

ZWOW Workout Today

My workout today was ZWOW #9. In case you guys don't know who she is, this is Zuzana Light. She used to be the host over on my FAVORIIIITE fitness blog Bodyrock.tv but now she is doing her own thing. More power to her! Her workouts are brutal and she's so inspirational that you can't help but lace up your sneakers and get bit by the fitness bug.
In 10 minutes I completed.....only 2 rounds completely. I had 17 seconds left in the 10 minutes but then I took my brief water break and the timer went off. I definitely recommend this workout!

For cardio I did a 3 mile run (34:50 minutes). I took a few walking breaks to catch my breath though, darn it. :(

3/20/12: WOD + Free Rita's

For today I tried something new! I actually made up my ab routine that I did from old gymnastics exercises. I used the old gymnastics names but I'm pretty sure everyone still knows what I'm talking about. Check it out:
  1. 25 Crunches
  2. 25 V-Ups
  3. 25 Toe Touches
  4. 25 Rowers (when you balance on your butt and act like you're rowing)
  5. 25 Butt Lifts (lay on your back in a pike position and lift your butt off the floor--lower abs)
  6. 25 Lemon Squeezers
  7. 25 Oblique Crunches Left
  8. 25 Oblique Crunches Right
  9. 25 Split Switches
  10. 25 Side shimmies
  11. 25 Leg Raisers
And that's it! That's my 275 Rep "Awesome Abs" workout. Give it a try if you want. I think next time I'm going to go through it twice...since I'm not feeling it at all (very disappointing)

Cardio: 10 mile cycle (40ish minutes)

And it's the first day of spring! Treat yourself to some Ritas (it's free)!!
New week. New goal. My goal is to continue to eat healthy AND do some more yoga!

My workout today went a little something like this: 12.39 miles cycle (50 minutes) + 1.05 (11 minutes) run

Also, check out these delicious snacks I made:
Sliced cherry tomatoes, sliced avocado, a bit of low fat (whatever that means) vegetable cream cheese all layered on my wheat Goya crackers. At least I think they're Goya....I threw the box away and have no idea. They're a really tough cracker so it's perfect. Sooooo delicious!

In case you didn't already know....
The Voice and Smash are on tonight!!

Week Recap

I'm pretty proud of this week's workouts and mile total. Very cool!
I'm feeling very good about my training and  I'm really working on my diet.

3/15/2012: WOD

Pressed for workout time today. I only got half hour of P90X Yoga done and 1.05 miles in about 9:4something time. Still better than no workout but I wish I could have done more!!

3/14/2012: WOD

For today's workout I did POP Pilates Slimmer Thinner Thighs and Runner's Calves workout. Even though it was only about 17 minutes...my calves were killing me by the end.

I also did ZWOW #8 (Zuzana's Workout of the Week).

As far as cardio goes: 2 miles in 23 minutes exactly. 219 calories :) I'm really cracking down on my diet. I'm working on taking out cheese and incorporate more greens and whole grains.

Areas of concern to work on: muffin top/abdominals and thighs (I'm not looking for a thigh gap--I have gymnast muscles under there that won't allow that--I'm just looking for some tone)

3/12/12: WOD

Workout of the Day. Finally! You all didn't think I would continue being lazy did you?! Confession: I was a little scattered for this workout today. I couldn't get my breathing right.

3.01 miles in 35 minutes + 6.07 mi cycling in 18 minutes + 1.03 mi cool down in 12:03 minutes

So yeah, broke my running in half but...a combined total of 4 miles running and 6 miles cycling isn't so bad. Oh yeah, the 500+ calorie burn doesn't hurt either.

ANOTHER LAW SCHOOL

It's official. I could never get tired of opening envelopes with good news like the following:
I was accepted to Duquesne University School of Law!
Unfortunately, the letter was sent to my house instead of here at the apartment and so my dad called to let me know the good news! Wahoo! Add another one to the list!!

Accepted: New England Law | Boston

am such a fatty! I haven't worked out in...2 weeks?! For real. I wish I had a better excuse but really I don't. That in mind, here goes my excuse conga line:

Spring break from my college + visiting law school in Boston + being lazy = no workouts

However, walked 4 miles around Boston :) so I guess that kind of counts! And whyyy was I in Boston?? Well, to go for a tour around:
New England Law|Boston
It was so awesome, the building was clean (and the city, shockingly) and it is in an amazing location. It's not even 5 blocks from South Station (train station we got in at), across the street from the school is a Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, PF Changs, bank, etc, up the street is a few more places to eat, and down the block is the Boston Commons. It is so cool and I got really excited for what's coming up next August. I can't wait to start law school! I still haven't made my mind up though since it's a huuuuge decision and will put me $$$$$$ in debt. Right now it's between New England Law|Boston, Widener Law, and Albany Law. Still pulling for Akron Law but we'll see. The picture above was taken from the balcony at the hotel we stayed at. How convenient is that? A hotel right across the street from the law school. I know. What do they always say? Location location location?

Oh yeah, and while I was there..my dad and I had a drink at Cheers!
