Right now there's quite the rain and storm going on so it's a great time to sit down, listen to the pitter patter of the rain, and do a bit of blogging. Did Halloween sneak up on anyone this year? Last Sunday Andrew and I went to our local farm and picked our pumpkins for this Halloween but usually we try to go earlier so that we get the very best selection of pumpkins. In my Instagram photo collage I showed the slim pickings we had while we searched for pumpkins. Luckily, we found the perfect pair of large pumpkins for our carving extravaganza, as well as two smaller pumpkins to decorate the apartment with. This is the photo from insta:
See the desert of pumpkins?! Usually you're still pulling them off the vines! After searching the entire patch for the perfect carving pumpkins we found two ones that were calling our names. This beauty was mine.
I forget every year who gross it is to actually carve pumpkins. You have to scoop out all this nastiness and seeds and it's slimy and gets under my nails. Ick! But once I get through that it's onto the more fun stuff! This year I decided to freehand my design. Can you guess which one is mine??
Yep, mine is the one on the right. Did the wonky heart background give it away?? It's supposed to be a bride and groom, since Andrew and I are getting married next September! The groom actually came out really well for being free-handed, I think.
We also found a tiny little green pumpkin/gourd for our little sadness figurine (you all know how much I love Sadness from the movie Inside Out!). It was perfect.
Did anyone else carve pumpkins this year? Did you dress up? Here's a throwback to Andrew and my first Halloween together. He was my Knight in Shining Armor and I was a chef!
I love how your pumpkins came out! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm not dressing up as I have an MRI in the morning. After that, I have to do straight to work. :/ I did have fun decorating a small pumpkin though! :)
Oh no! An MRI? That does not sound good. Hope all is well!
DeleteThank you :) I hurt my wrist back in July, but it hasn't been improving, so the MRI was to try and get a better idea of what happened. Hopefully this'll do the trick so I can finally get on the mend!
DeleteNikki! I love when you post! I miss you! Please consider e-mailing me whenever you get a few minutes! I mean, your carved pumpkins..i was blown away! They are beautiful! they look professional and something people would spend money on! A's cat is perfection and your is sooo romantic and unique! I personally love the heart shape, i think it added to the whole and it was a genious idea! You look soooo classy in the first pic, like a high end uptown lady! A. with long hair tho!!!! let's take a minute to applaud to him! But wait!..where's your costume pic for this year???!!! you can't leave me without revealing it!!!! hahaha love you
ReplyDeleteHey girlie! I knowwww, I love posting but can you tell I'm struggling with what to post about? I want to keep posting nails like I always have but I just don't have the time/energy (ok mostly the energy) to keep up with it like I used to. I'm thinking of just making it a lifestyle blog. You know, the whatever-whenever kind of space? It would definitely make it easier to post.
DeleteAnd hahaha, your comment had me cracking up! "Like a high end upton lady!" That is a high compliment darling! And I know! How crazy is Andrew's hair?! When I first met him and for the first year or so of us dating he had luscious long locks like that photo. There should be a law against dating a boy with better hair than the girl! hahaha, talk to you soon!
Lifestyle whatever whenever kind of blog sounds good to me! I love hearing your life stories and how you've been. I really wish you to be able and find your corner-space-time-energy again to talk to us and relax, but it's totally normal and ok not to when you work and such. yeah, i think you look very classy! and A. in that last pic is nothing else but your litteral prince charming! hope to ttys Xx
DeleteCarving pumpkins sounds yucky but the result is so nice! We don't celebrate Halloween over here so I've never done it myself though.
